Pedestrian Path Along Cornhusker Road

This update was shared at the annual meeting. A few highlights provided by Benesch are:

  1. The trail will be located on the north side of Cornhusker Road (180th Street to Chalco Hills)
  2. Construction will be in mid-2026 or 2027.
  3. The entrance signs to the neighborhood will not be impacted.
  4. Construction will be phased to limit the contractors impacts within the corridor.
  5. The trail will be constructed parallel to Cornhusker Road.  Retaining walls will be constructed in some locations to avoid impacts to properties.
  6. Crossing ramps will be constructed at the northeast and northwest corners of the 168th Street intersection.

The attachment shows the preliminary placement of the path including locations of retaining walls. Five CAHA properties are shown with a retaining wall (Schreck, Mansour, Epp, Harvey, and Hon properties). The project manager indicated the City of Gretna will be responsible for path maintenance (snow removal, mowing). Funding is provided by the City of Gretna, Sarpy County, and the State of Nebraska.

While the construction of this pedestrian path won’t happen this year, I wanted to share project information impacting your property.
